The truth about Tithes that your Pastor won't tell you.

Tithe is an obligatory offering from the law of Moses requiring ten percent of an Israelite’s first fruits. It also provided for the Levitical priesthood. Hello, are you with me? God commanded that the land of Israel be shared among eleven tribes of Israel only excluding the tribe of Levi. These Levites are a tribe of Priests, who minister daily in the temples, they have no land inheritance anywhere. Although the first tithe took place in Gen. 14:19-20.
God made it a permanent commandment to the children of Israel in Lev. 27:30-34 ( Every tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is the Lord’s; it is holy to the Lord. If a man wishes to redeem some of his tithe, he shall add a fifth to it. And every tithe of herds and flocks, every tenth animal of all that pass under the herdsman’s staff, shall be holy to the Lord. One shall not differentiate between good or bad, neither shall he make a substitute for it; and if he does substitute for it, then both it and the substitute shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.”)
this means that the first ten percent of your harvest is called “holy,” or set apart, as belonging to God. The Israelites were to return to God what was already his, and in doing so, recognize the Almighty’s provision.
If, for some reason, someone needed to “redeem” or keep all or a portion of the goods he was to tithe, he could just give money instead. However, the cash would need to be equal to the tithe’s value, plus an extra fifth. In other words, Israelites could give 10% in produce, or 12% in cash. When it came to livestock, a shepherd had to set aside every tenth for God. It was decided by simply counting the animals and consecrating every tenth. The shepherd was not to be deciding based on the quality of the animal. Num. 18:21 made it clear that Tithes are now an inheritance for the levites in return for their service to God and their fellow Israelites.
In Num. 18:26, the Levites were equally commanded thus "Moreover, you shall speak and say to the Levites, ‘When you take from the people of Israel the tithe that I have given you from them for your inheritance, then you shall present a contribution from it to the Lord, a tithe of the tithe."
Deut. 14:28-29 again introduced a special kind of Tithe for the orphans, widows, and sojourners in your place of residence. "At the end of every three years you shall bring out all the tithe of your produce in the same year and lay it up within your towns. And the Levite, because he has no portion or inheritance with you, and the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, who are within your towns, shall come and eat and be filled, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands that you do."
Hello, if i may ask, of all this tihes, how many do you keep today, in all honesty as a Christian? when last did you give tithes to the orphans, widows and strangers in your community? have your Pastor, General Overseer or Reverend ever told you that you are commanded to do this particular tithe every three years? I bet you hardly hear this type in your Church, with due respect, all they say is give, give and give and they make you believe that if you fail to give tithe which ofcourse they must collect in cash, you won't receive blessings from God.
When it comes to tithe, they will never tell you that old things have passed away and behold all things has become new,  they will never tell you that the law has been nailed to the cross, they will avoid the book of Hebrews in its entirety, they will never inform you that we are not under the laws and ordinances of Moses of which tithe is one of them. They will never tell you, when it comes to tithe that you are a royal priesthood like the Levites, a peculiar people, a chosen generation under a better and a new covenant established with the blood of JESUS CHRIST.
Israelites give tithes to Levites because they are a tribe of Priests but now every Christian is a royal Priest and we all have land inheritance in our communities should a Priest give tithe to a Priest? go and read the whole chapters in the book of Hebrews.  Again 1 Cor. 16:1-2 made it clear that Christians make collections for the saints or priests in other to carry out the activities of the Church and help the needy among them. Luke 6:38 said, "give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bossom... ". 2 Cor, 9:7 "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.".
There are so many other places in the New Testament which guides a Christian on how to give, in the Church and to the general public, a Christian is not commanded or bound to give tithe to anybody, because every Christian is a Priests, no one Priest is more important than they other but your money conscious Pastor would find a million reasons why should give tihes because it is in the bible but when you decide to marry a second wife like King David, he will call you a sinner why? It is because he is mixing the old and new testaments to make you pay tithes but when it comes to other matters he would prove to you that you are a new creature. As a Christian, you decide what to give for the upkeep of your congregation according to your steady or fluctuating income and economic situations be it one-tenth, two-tenth,one twentieth or two-twentieth of your income or proceeds. You are only encouraged to give and to help others because it is more blessed to give than to receive. Tithes are for physical Israelites of the old.
